I would like to thank everyone for their diligence in following the 6 key mitigation strategies during the past year. Because of this, Calhoun County Schools did not experience the outbreaks of COVID-19 that other counties experienced. The WVDE has released the new guidance for COVID-19 attached. This guidance continues the 6 mitigation strategies with social distancing and face coverings at county board discretion.
I will continue to work with local and state health officials to monitor the COVID-19 in Calhoun County. However, at the current time, the infection rate and percentage positivity showed below are extremely low. I maintained the face coverings in the school for over two weeks following the Wood Festival to make sure we didn’t experience an increase in COVID-19 cases. This has not happened. I will lift the mandated face-covering requirement as of July 1, 2021. All other mitigation strategies will remain in place. If we experience a dramatic increase in COVID-19 cases, the requirement for a face mask will be reinstituted.
By working together, we can ensure that everyone stays safe during these trying times. Thank you for your help and support for our students, employees, and community. Below you will find the link to the Summer 21 School Recovery and Guidance Document
