🥕🥔 Soup-er News for Next Week’s Parent-Child Group! 🥔🥕
Hey Parents!
Next week, we’re stirring up something special: veggie soup for snack time! That’s right – it’s time to get souped up!
Join us at Pleasant Hill Elementary on Monday at 4:30 p.m. or at Arnoldsburg Elementary on Friday at 1:30 p.m. for a cozy bowl of homemade veggie goodness. We can’t wait to get toasty with you all!
Today is World Kindness Day. Calhoun County Schools is promoting kindness by participating in several activities with our students, one of which includes the Kindness paper chain, being displayed down the hallways. Each chain has a positive quote or random act of kindness that reminds students and staff of the importance of being aware of the words we use with each other and the positive actions we take. In recognition of World Kindness Day, let's work together to make the world a better place.
Calhoun County Schools is working hard to promote attendance and reduce chronic absenteeism. Attendance is an instrumental part of academic success. Getting your child to school on-time, every day, unless they are sick, is something that you can do to ensure your child has a chance to succeed in school. You can promote good attendance when you:
Establish and stick to the basic routines (going to bed early, waking up on time, etc.) that will help your child develop the habit of on-time attendance.
Talk to your child about why going to school every day is critical and important unless they are sick. If your child seems reluctant to go to school, find out why and work with the teacher, administrator or afterschool provider to get them excited about going to school.
Come up with back up plans for who to turn to (another family member, a neighbor or fellow parents) to help you get your child to school if something comes up (e.g. another child gets sick, your car breaks down, etc.).
Reach out for help if you are experiencing tough times (e.g. transportation, unstable housing, loss of a job, health problems) that make it difficult to get your child to school. Other parents, your child’s teacher, principal, social worker, school nurse, afterschool providers or community agencies can help you problem solve or connect you to a needed resource.
If your child is absent, work with the teacher to make sure she or he has an opportunity to learn and make up for the academics missed.

The levy will provide funding for maintenance, facility improvements, and equipment at Calhoun County Schools. With these funds, we plan to upgrade our sports facilities, ensuring safe, high-quality spaces for our students and youth. Additionally, we hope to use part of this funding to purchase playground equipment for Calhoun Middle High School. This levy will support ongoing facility upkeep and necessary equipment purchases, directly benefiting our students and community.
