On Monday, March 13th, Ms. Emily Anderson with the help of Mrs. Gina Cano-Stump scheduled a visit with United States Senator Shelley Moore Capito and her team to present her West Virginia Girls Rise Up Program. The senator visited a couple of classrooms before she presented her program to the 5th and 6th grade girls.
Senator Capito is West Virginia's first female U.S. Senator for West Virginia. She has made it a point to inspire the next generation of female leaders. WV Girls Rise Up program began in 2015. The purpose of the program is to empower young women through education, physical fitness, and self confidence. She has traveled to many different elementary schools in West Virginia, where she talks to young girls and encourages them to take the "The Girls Rise Up Challenge".
