The Calhoun Middle School Empowerment Pathway, Universal Explorers, attended the Kanawha Valley Regional Award Ceremony and Dinner last night at West Virginia State University. Seventh Grade Student, Anessia Kerby, led the team onstage, and took her place at the podium, in front of a packed banquet hall, with over 150 manufacturing leaders, community leaders, educators and students to introduce her team, their video, and to thank the representatives from Armacell in attendance—not bad for a 13-year old. While the team did not win an award, they would like to thank everyone who voted for their video in the Explore Student Video Contest. Although they came up empty last night, they continue to receive recognition and accolades for their work. In fact, last week they received a letter from the Vice President of the United States acknowledging them for their work during the 1st semester with the United States Space Force Guardians. Members of the team, in addition to Anessia, includes Ezra Anderson, Hanlea Campbell, Riley Hupp, Bailey Metz, Trinity Probasco, Iyree Reynolds, Brantley Smith, Alex Starcher, and Avery Wood.
