The 24th Annual Highest Honor Graduates Ceremony was held May 16, 2023 at Calhoun Middle High School. David Gaul, Principal of CMHS was the Master of Ceremonies and welcomed all who come to participate in this celebration. Guests of the evening were Board of Education members, President Jenna Jett, Tammy Yoak, James Gregory, Mitchell Morgan, and Horst Motz, Superintendent Kelli Whytsell, Pastor Shelly Mace, Guest Speaker "The Honorable Anita Harold Ashley" and her husband Bob Ashley.
"Tonight we gather to honor the best of the best. The students who we honor this evening have reached the highest levels of academic achievement among the Class of 2023. Recognizing our students who have excelled academically is of paramount importance. We are proud to recognize our outstanding students this evening and to also acknowledge very important people in their academic careers, their parents, and their honor teachers," Mr. Gaul said.
Superintendent Kelli Whytsell presented the Highest Honor Students and their Honor Teachers.
Thank you to the following people who organized and made this a memorable moment for our students. Lorie Strange-Paylor for organizing this event and Mellody Walburn for stepping in to make the evening special for our soon to be graduates. The delicious dinner was prepared by Christina Jones and served by The National Honor Society. The waiters and waitresses did a fabulous job. To The Honorable Anita Harold Ashley for her inspirational keynote address. Thank you to everyone who made this evening possible. A special congratulations to the Highest Honors Recipients and their Honor Teachers for a job well done. The evening was enjoyed by all.
