This summer WVU is offering an opportunity to fully fund students from your school to attend our overnight residential Visual Arts Summer Academy (VASA) supported by the Bainum Family Equal Access to the Arts Fund, June 23-28.
The Visual Arts Summer Academy provides a community-based program designed for students in grades 7-12. The Academy introduces participants to visual arts programs at the university level and helps them expand their artistic skills. This program is designed to encourage students to think about career pathways in art and design and to experience campus life at WVU.
We are looking for students who are interested in the visual arts, but no experience is necessary, and who would not be able to attend without funding assistance.
Residential Camp Costs of approximately $825 will be fully covered by the WVU School of Art and Design.
About the academy:
Under the supervision of WVU faculty, students will participate in studio art workshops Monday through Thursday. Supervised by student counselors and faculty in WVU’s Art Education program, participants will reside in the Evansdale Residential Dorms near the Canady Creative Arts Center. Faculty from WVU’s School of Art & Design will facilitate this camp and art teachers from around the state of West Virginia will teach individual workshops.
All covered expenses include: room and board, all meals, art supplies and bed linens. Single rooms will be provided to every camper; only siblings will be allowed to room together.
Students will be separated into two pods of 12 students. Residential campers may choose between Ceramics, Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Photography, and Fashion.
