Students spent part of their summer learning hands-on culinary and food preservation skills during the district’s Summer Cooking and Canning Camp. Throughout the camp, participants explored kitchen safety, basic cooking techniques, nutrition, and the science behind preserving fresh foods through canning.
Campers worked together to prepare a variety of recipes using seasonal ingredients while gaining confidence in the kitchen. They also learned proper canning procedures, food safety practices, and the importance of preserving locally grown produce.
The camp provided an engaging learning environment where students developed teamwork, problem-solving, and self-sufficiency skills. By the end of the program, participants proudly took home homemade creations and a greater appreciation for healthy eating and food preservation traditions.
The Summer Cooking and Canning Camp combined education and fun, equipping students with practical skills they can use for years to come.
