Laura Webb Above and Beyond

Laura Webb, an elementary teacher from Calhoun County, has earned West Virginia Public Broadcasting's Above and Beyond Award for March, which recognizes excellence and creativity of Mountain State teachers.

Webb  was honored at Arnoldsburg Elementary School Tuesday, April 5 at 2 p.m. She received   a monetary award and our signature Blenko Glass blue apple paperweight by WVPB education director Maggie Holley. The award is proudly sponsored by the West Virginia State Treasurers Office, presenter of the SMART529 college savings program in the Mountain State.

Webb was nominated by her colleague Carissa Yoak, who describes her as a leader in their school community. Yoak states that Webb makes learning exciting and meaningful at the same time, citing examples like mock trials, carnivals, and reading under blanket forts. Yoak also says Webb is dedicated to her craft and her students and shows the love and high expectations she has for all her students.

We are beyond proud of Ms. Webb and her dedication to our students.
