Good evening, this is Michael Fitzwater, Calhoun County Superintendent. This message is in response to the recent online threats made against schools across the state within the last 24 hours. As always, we take all school threats very seriously. I am in direct communication with state and local authorities, as well as the Director of Homeland Security. All reported threats are being thoroughly investigated. Based on guidance from these authorities, we will continue normal school operations while strictly following established safety protocols. That said, we will have law enforcement present at school tomorrow as a precaution. We understand there are many rumors spreading, but to clarify, no student was escorted out of school or placed in handcuffs today. It is important for parents and students to understand that we take all threats to our schools very seriously. If a student or employee is directly involved, we will conduct a thorough investigation. These threats, regardless of intent, cause significant concern for everyone, detract from student learning, and create unnecessary fear within our community. Such behavior will not be tolerated. Please be assured that the safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. Working together, we will continue to keep our students safe. We also encourage you to consider downloading the See Send app to report any suspicious activities or seek help when needed. Thank you for your understanding and support.

We are no longer using the Stop It App. Instead, we will be using See Something, Send Something. The WV Department of Homeland Security has established the See Something, Send Something app as part of the Governor’s school safety initiative and general community awareness.

🌟 Good evening, everyone! 🌟 We’re excited to share some great news! Thanks to the Federal COPs grant we received in 2022, we upgraded our security systems to ensure a safer environment for our students & staff. This includes new security cameras, PA system, and an alert system for weather & safety announcements. 📸🔊⚠️ Tomorrow, Sept. 4th, our dedicated staff will be participating in training on this new system and practicing emergency drills in the schools ensuring we are prepared and ready to keep our school community safe.
