Calhoun County Schools was notified of a water issue through the county system. We are aware of the situation and have been in contact with local authorities to address it. In the meantime, bottled water will be provided to all students and staff until the issue is fully resolved. Maintaining in-person instruction is important for our students’ learning, routines, and overall well-being, and we are taking all necessary steps to ensure a safe and supportive school environment. The following buses will be running alternative routes on Tuesday, February 3rd:
Bus 19, Bus 21, Bus 26, Bus 2, Bus 10, Bus 25, Bus 23 and Bus 24.
Bus 11 will run an alternative route and will turn at the Water Plant.
Bus 6 will run its regular route, except it will turn at Lavada Road on Broomstick.
Enrollment Information
Calhoun County Universal Preschool now has enrollment packets available for parents to enroll their children in Pre-K or Kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year. Enrollment packets may be picked up at Arnoldsburg Elementary, Pleasant Hill Elementary, DOHS or Calhoun County Board of Education during school hours. The registration fairs are held to assist families in getting the necessary documentation for starting school. We will conduct, hearing, vision, and dental screenings at the event and have stations for students to visit.
All children who are 4 years old before July 1, 2026, are eligible to apply for enrollment in Pre-school.
All children who are 5 years old before July 1, 2026, are enrolled in Kindergarten.
Calhoun County Schools will be conducting Pre-Registration on the following dates:
Friday, March 6th, 2026, at Calhoun County Middle High School from 9AM-2:30 PM

All children applying for preschool must have the following documents before the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year.
· Pre-K Universal Application
· Certified Birth Certificate (Vital Statistics Certificate from Charleston only)
· Immunization Record
· Preventative Health Screen (Well Child)
· Dental check
· Hemoglobin test (available through your physician)
· Lead Screen
· Proof of Income (W2, 1040, or proof of Government Assistance)
Completed preschool packets are due by the date of the registration fairs. Packets will be accepted after the fair, however classroom preference is honored by dates of received application.
Any child; from birth to three, thought to have developmental delays, is also eligible to be screened for possible services.

February 13, 2026 is currently listed on the calendar as an OS day. This day will now be an instructional day. Students will report to school on February 13, 2026.

Knowing when to keep your child home helps protect their health and the well‑being of others.
✅ Send my child to school if:
They have a runny nose or mild cough with no other symptoms.
Sores are dry, healing, or covered.
They have had no fever for 24 hours and have not taken fever‑reducing medication during that time.
They have not vomited or had diarrhea for 24 hours.
🚫 Keep my child at home if:
They have a temperature over 100.4°F, even after medication.
They have untreated, oozing sores that cannot be covered.
They are vomiting or have diarrhea.
Their eyes are pink, crusty, or have white or yellow discharge.
They are injured or too ill to take part in normal school activities.
💡 Tips from your school nurses:
Make sure your child gets 8–10 hours of sleep each night.
Encourage breakfast every morning.
Ensure glasses are worn daily if prescribed.
Keep emergency contacts up to date with the school.
Confirm your child meets West Virginia immunization requirements.
