Exciting news! 🎉

Our 180-day waiver request for Calhoun County has been approved by the West Virginia Department of Education. This means we will not have to make up any additional days that were missed due to weather.

The students’ last day of school will remain the same as the approved 2025–2026 school calendar.

📅 The last day for students will be May 29th.

Staff at Calhoun County Schools were notified by Law Enforcement that the soft lockdown can be lifted at this time. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

We have been made aware of a situation within the county that is unrelated to the school system. Out of an abundance of caution, all Calhoun County Schools are currently on a soft lockdown until further notice. During a soft lockdown, all students and staff remain safely inside the building, and normal classroom instruction continues. The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. We will provide updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for your understanding and support.

✍️🌟 Celebrating Our WV Young Writers!

Calhoun County is proud to recognize our outstanding WV Young Writers contestants whose creativity, imagination, and storytelling shined across every grade level. Our judges shared that they truly enjoyed every story submitted this year. These selected entries stood out based on a rubric that considered grammar, language usage, plot development, overall flow, and—most importantly—creativity.

These young authors represent the heart and talent of our students. Their dedication to writing and their willingness to share their voices make us incredibly proud. We also want to recognize Mrs. Webb, Mrs. Hoskins, Mrs. Summers, Mrs. Stewart, and Dr. Gainer, whose encouragement and guidance helped these writers find the confidence to tell their stories

These students will have the opportunity to participate in Young Writers Day at the University of Charleston in May, where their creativity will be honored alongside students from across the state. ❤️
