Calhoun County Schools has left over Surplus items in the auxiliary gym at CMHS. These items are FREE on a first come, first serve basis. If you would like any of these items, you must come to the front entrance of CMHS and check in at the office. Items include metal desks, chairs, tables, and miscellaneous.

Please be understanding with us, the state has transitioned to a new information system. We are working hard to get our programs to talk to the new system. Please be early to the bus stop. Bus times are approximate.

5th and 9th-grade orientation will take place during the Back to School Bash.

Welcome Back,
We are excited to welcome you back to a new school year. The teachers, service personnel, and administration have worked hard this summer getting things ready for your return.
The year kicks off with Open Houses at AES and PHE Monday, August 15th, from 4:00-6:00. Please join me at these open houses for a good time.

2022-2023 Calhoun County Academic School Calendar

Calhoun County Board of Education voted last night to run a School Excess Levy on November 8, 2022, to support the students of Calhoun County. We will be scheduling informational Community Chats to share information about the excess levy. The first Community Chat will be next Tuesday, August 16 at the Back to School Bash from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This event will be held at the Calhoun Middle High School. Please come out and get free school supplies and learn how the School Excess Levy will support the students of Calhoun County.

This weekend is the Tax Holiday in WV which applies to instructional materials, school supplies, clothing and more.



Calhoun County Schools will host our annual Back to School Bash on August 16, 2022 from 4-6 pm. Food, entertainment and multiple vendors with information about their resources and services will be there. There will be door prizes. Free school supplies will be available for students enrolled in Calhoun County Schools. Come join us as we start an awesome new school year.

Our CIS team attended the CIS Summer Institute this month, where they learned new strategies and practices to use for the upcoming school year.


Summer Camp has drawn to a close. This is the final week with the students enjoying many activities with prizes given away. This has been an eventful time and a wonderful learning experience for the campers. Thank you for sharing your summer with us. We hope you enjoy the rest of your summer!


SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAM 2022 - Parent/Caregiver Survey.
The link provided is for all parents/caregivers of students who participated in the Summer School program. Your child’s summer program is part of a statewide program being studied by the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE). The program is being studied to find out how well it is working. This is due by August 5th. Parents, please complete this ASAP.

Summer school students are encouraged to attend our last day on Thursday, July 28th. On this day, attendance prizes will be given out. Prizes include kayaks (2 large ones for high school and 2 smaller ones for elementary), basketballs, fishing equipment, and outdoor games. Students are entered in the drawing for every four days of summer school they attended. Families will be contacted to arrange transportation for students who win kayaks. Thank you for spending your summer with us!

Summer Camp Week 5 has been very exciting and successful. This week, the Elementary students took a field trip to the library and donated their awesome bookmarks they created along with many fun packed activities. Middle School students engineered robots and participated in other eventful projects. High School students enjoyed constructing their own paper mache project. Summer Boost hosted a successful summer celebration last Saturday in which many families enjoyed. Thank you Erica Greathouse for writing the weekly newsletters and keeping us informed with the Summer Camp activities.
