Good Evening, Calhoun County Schools takes great effort to keep everyone informed of school delays and cancellations. At this time the program we use to send the phone calls is currently experiencing an outage with their call provider. This is preventing our automated calls to your home. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If you know friends and family who may not receive online notifications, please reach out and update them. We will continue to update our app, webpages and social media accounts. You can also check https://wvde.state.wv.us/closings/at-a-glance and news outlets for updates. Thank you for your understanding.

Good Morning, On January 10, 2022, I attended a state meeting in which Shannon McBee, MPH, CHES, State Epidemiologist, gave the new COVID information. Effective immediately, Parents will be given the information below if their child is identified as a close contact or COVID positive. Please make sure that the school has current contact information for your child. It is important that clear communication take place between the parents and the school. By working together, we can meet the needs of all students. Starting on January 18th, 2022 Test to stay- testing on the date an individual has been identified as a close contact and again 5 days after exposure (must wear a mask during quarantine period while at school) Test to play-testing on the date an individual has been identified as a close contact and again 5 days after exposure to participate in unmasked extracurricular activities (must wear a mask during quarantine period while at school) Close contact individuals who are not fully vaccinated would be in quarantine days 0-5 to be released on day 6. However, the individual would be able to Test to Stay in school by testing on the date an individual has been identified as a close contact and again 5 days after exposure.(must wear a mask during quarantine period at school) Test to play-test positive youth who want to participate in unmasked extracurricular activities will need to have a negative test at the end of their 5-day isolation period. Exposed individuals who are fully vaccinated ( two weeks from the last shot is defined as fully vaccinated) do not need to quarantine. Recommended a test to play strategy. Test at the point of exposure and on day 5. To be considered fully vaccinated, students age 5-17 must have completed their primary series at least 2 weeks prior) A booster is not required for these students at this time. Students over 18 and staff must have completed their primary series and be 2 weeks post the second dose. However, if it has been more than 6 months past the primary series a booster dose is required and be 2 weeks post-dose. Our goal is to keep our students, parents, and staff as informed as possible as changes occur. Thanks, Kelli Whytsell, Superintendent
